Hi 👋, we’re the small editorial team behind this site.
We test AI companion apps for hours, write about them honestly, and try to do it in a way that feels like a friend telling you the real read instead of a press release with a star rating slapped on top. That’s basically the whole pitch.
What we actually do here
We pay for our own subscriptions. We test each app for at least 8 hours, across multiple days, with multiple personas. Then we sit down and write what we found, what we genuinely liked, what felt off, who we think the app is actually for. No spreadsheets-from-on-high, no “comprehensive comparative analysis” framing. Just real takes from people who spent real time with these things.
How we’re set up
We’re two editors. We don’t put our real names on the site, and we want to be upfront about why: most of the “honest reviewer with a face and a LinkedIn” model in this space turns out to be either AI-generated or a paid actor, and we’d rather be evaluated on whether the writing is useful than on whether our profile photos look trustworthy.
So we sign as “Editor A” and “Editor B” and we mean it. If that’s a deal-breaker for you we totally understand, there are reviewer sites with named bylines and you should feel free to use those. We just couldn’t do the named-byline thing without lying about it, so we don’t.
How we pay for this
The subscription costs come out of our pockets. Server costs are covered by affiliate links that we add to pages after a review is finalised, never before, never during, and the score is never adjusted based on whether a platform has an affiliate program.
If we recommend a platform that doesn’t pay affiliate commissions, we still link to it. If we don’t recommend a platform that does pay commissions, we leave it out. The boring version of this model is the only honest one we could think of.
What we don’t do
We don’t accept review samples or complimentary subscriptions. We don’t have an inbox for press releases. We don’t run sponsored content. We don’t have “preferred partners”. We don’t have a points-and-rewards system. We don’t sell our subscriber list (we don’t have one, there’s no newsletter).
If you want to reach us
The contact page has the email. We read everything. We’re a bit slow on replies but we get there.
And honestly, if you found this site useful, the single best thing you can do is tell one friend. We don’t run ads. We don’t have an SEO team. Word of mouth is the entire growth strategy, by deliberate choice. 🫶
